Ce Solutions Ltd were honoured to be selected to supply partitions to the Ministry of Defence for their new accommodation development in the Falklands. Not only was this an opportunity to supply our products to a prestigious organisation, it was also a chance to be part of a major military construction project.
The Concept
With most Ministry of Defence developments, contractors are used to carry out the building and fit out works. However, with these new barrack buildings, it was the MOD Royal Engineers who undertook the work. The project involved the complete construction of the buildings, from ground works to fit out. This concept was supported strongly by both the Royal Engineers and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, as it gave the personnel the opportunity to expand their skills, whilst also eliminating some procurement and logistics issues, keeping costs to a minimum also.
The Product
The products supplied were three identical 6-metre long sliding folding partitions, which are in place to separate the dining and recreational areas. With class B surface spread of flame boards, the wall will be a flexible and safe addition to the new barracks.
The Collaboration
Ce Solutions started to work with the MOD in August 2016, helping the project manager select the most suitable product and specification. To support the MOD with their new in-house construction project, a training programme was established to ensure the Royal Engineers were well informed on how to install and operate the movable partition.
In November 2016, the partitions were delivered to the Falkland’s, where they have been stored until the building reached fit-out stage. During this time, the Royal Engineers team attended installation training delivered by Ce Solutions.
Christine Duffy, National Account Manager for the MOD at Rexel UK Ltd, has been pleased with the collaboration “Ce Solutions were a great company to work with on this project. The team were very knowledgeable and gave us lots of sound advice on which product was most suitable, as well as great in-depth training for the Royal Engineers carrying out the installation.”
Carl Edwards, Managing Director for Ce Solutions is proud to have been part of this new concept in military infrastructure “There’s always an element of worry when you try something new as a business, but these worries were soon quashed when the team here stepped up to the mark and provided an excellent service. It’s been a pleasure to work with the MOD on this project and I hope we can continue to support them with other projects.”
